Hafnium-based Intel® 45nm Process Technology means big changes ahead.

Microsoft finally seems to have Windows Vista 64 upgrades working. And it only took them 11-months.

  • Intel Mother Boards feature:

  • Three 32-bit PCI slots, two x1 PCIe, & one x16 PCIe connectors
  • USB 2.0 and Firewire
  • Many with integrated graphics, audio, LAN features.
  • Integrated PCI IDE; integrated Serial ATA

  • Which is better the E6850 Dual Core or the Q6700 Quad Core? That is the question. It turns out only advanced software and games are able to handle multi threading. Therefore the raw power of a dual core running at 3 GHz is faster. When application code becomes more truly multithreaded then the advantages of four cores becomes apparent. I went with the E6850.

  • It's the second iteration of the Bad Axe, and is more enthusiast friendly than the first edition. The initial Bad Axe board didn't support Core 2, but support was bolted on after revision 304; the reason for this was because Core 2 required a change in the way the board handled power regulation.

Hard Drives A Problem and a solution. This motherboard comes with a fine set of quirks.
Lian Li Case I reused my Lian Li aluminum case. Inital power supply problems were resolved by using a 550 watt Cool Master PSU. This meets the ATX 12V V2.01 spec and supports SATA and PCI-E. The 2 by 4 fanout to 2 by 8 plug is essential. More ...
    Windows Vista
    • A New copy of Windows Vista 32 was purchased and cracked.
    • Download the vistaCrack.zip and unzip it to a floppy disk or a USB flash drive.
    • Startup Windows Vista 32 bit. If you are past the grace period start in safe mode.
    • Apply the patch from the floppy disk by double clicking VistaActivator.
    • Follow the instructions. Note: This is best done before you add any application code.

    • I have had a copy of Windows Vista 64 Home Basic for over a year.
    • Finally there is a crack for Vista 64. Download this file.

Operating Systems - The goal was to be able to run all four choices quickly
    Data
  • All data is separated from application and operating system code.
  • All data can be accessed or modified by applications from any operating system.
  • Windows Vista
  • Vista 32 bit is my current primary operating system.
  • Vista 64 bit is also available and has some excellent security features.
  • Windows XP
  • Windows XP remains a viable choice and runs well in the 32 bit version
  • I never bought a 64 bit version of Windows XP.
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows 2000 formed the core code for both XP and Vista.
  • I maintain a working install more for historical purposes as fewer and fewer of my clients run windows 2000.
  • Linux
  • The primary 'distro' of Linux I run is Ubuntu.
  • I also can run the Fedora 'distro'.
  • Both versions support 64 bit processors.
