Most people think of the capital markets as a place to loose or make money.  Some would say just loose.  Actually while providing excellent opportunities to do both the capital markets do a bit more that that.  How a company is doing in the market can tell you how good their products are. 

How a group of stocks are preforming can tell you how an industry is doing.  How a different group of stocks are preforming can tell you how the economy as a whole is doing. 

Here I will not discuss investment strategies.  Rather these links are to the "Big Board" and "the over the counter" capital trading areas.  I have also included several exchanges that are not in the United States. 

You will also find a listing of Commodity Exchanges.  Commodities are only for the truly adventurous.
Some would say insane.

If you like auctions you will love these.  The stock market is really a kind of auction. 
Some would say a "crap shoot".


United States Stock Exchanges
NYSE The New York Stock Exchange is the largest of the stock exchanges. Here the large American publicly owned company's stock is traded.
NASDAQ The Nasdaq is the area where most of the high technology issues are traded.
AMEX Nasdeq and the American Exchange have merged. I include this link because it has some nice links.

The Chicago Board of Trade The Chicago Board of Trade: World's Largest Futures and Options Exchange
The London Metal Exchange This exchange provides reference prices for the worldwide pricing of activities relating to non-ferrous metals.
