The Problem with Norton Anti Virus 2004

I have been a user of Peter Norton's Programs since the DOS days.
Back then (1986) Peter's utilities assisted me in recovering from hard disk crashes.
Indeed the utilities were so useful that Peter sold his company to Symantec for some $5,000,000.
Symantec was at the time providing utilities to the Apple Macintosh community.

I have continued over the years to use Symantec utilities.
I purchase from both retail outlets and from discount sources such as eBay.
Symantec's utilities were so useful to myself and my clients that they were worth the price.

Recently that has changed.
Symantec decided that with the release of Norton Anti Virus 2004 they would add something new.
This new addition was product activation.
In a misguided attempt to thwart piracy of their code Symantec has created a nightmare for we users.
Restoring an image from backup results in the application thinking it has been pirated.
The result is that the program ceases to function.

These days there are new and more pernicious viruses created every month.
A user of the World Wide Web simply must have adequate and functional virus protection.
Sadly Norton Anti Virus 2004 no longer provides such protection.

I am recommending to all of my clients to switch away from NAV2004.
Until Symantec addresses and corrects this issue you risk exposure to pernicious attack.

NSW 2005

This software uses the activation scheme as well. Contact me and I will tell you where the crack is that will remove activation.
