I have recently replaced Ghost 2003 with Acronis for backing up my systems.

  • Fixing Ghost 2003
      Make the following changes to the Ghost.ini file.
    1. span(Spanning) = Y
    2. autoname(AutoName) = Y
    3. fni(DisableDirectIDE) = Y

      Boot the system to DOS and run Ghost 2003 normally. All of your hard drives will be seen.


    Ghosting Windows Vista
    1. Boot to the Windows 98 SE boot floppy.
    2. At the menu press Shift+F5
    3. CD to your USB Flash drive. Mine is in position D: This can be found by typing FDISK/STATUS.
    4. Launch Ghost
    5. Select the partition back up and then select the proper partition
    6. Select where you want the backup to go and the compression you want to use.
    7. Quit when completed. Then reboot.


    If you have problems with a restored Ghost image
    1. Boot your system using the Windows Vista DVD.
    2. At the language screen select Next.
    3. At the next screen select Repair Your System.
    4. Write the changes.
    5. Reboot the system.
