I am using 64 bit code so my list of software may be slightly different.
Utility Software
  1. ACDSee 3.1 remains my favorite image utility.
  2. Adobe Reader 6 provides PDF file handling.
  3. Atomic Clock allows my local clock to be syncronized.
  4. AVG provides Virus scan and removal.
  5. System Information for Windows is the utility I use to monitor my system and the installed software.
  6. Tiny IRC is a chat program I use daily.
  7. Trillian provides an all-in-one chat program for AIM and ICQ and Yahoo.
  8. Window Washer 6 clears up almost all problems with Interner Explorer.
  9. WinZip 8 will run under Vista 64 bit and rounds out my utility code.


Application Sofftware
  1. Microsoft Office XP is my suite of choice for routine tasks.
  2. Adobe Photoshop 6 remains my choice for image modifications. Installed as a legacy application.
  3. Macromedia HomeSite 5 can be installed under Vista 64 bit as a legacy application.
  4. Nero is my DVD/CD utility of choice. The download took quite some time but worked.
  5. PowerDVD is my utility to play DVDs on my PC. The download took only 4 minutes+ and worked well.
  6. 1ClickDVDCopy is my DVD movie ripper. It will install as a legacy application.

Do one of the following:
Controlling Windows Vista Shut Down
  • Open or Save this small program.
    or
  • Create a short cut that contains the following "C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s -t 01"
